I think this book was assigned over the summer between sophomore and junior years. I read large parts in the hammock. It recalls warm breezes, maple leaves, and populist discontent. My favorite notion from the book is that a collection of people may make decisions that most of these people find abhorrent. This phenomenon is a natural consequence of the way people behave in groups. As I recall, this idea is applied to banks foreclosing on farms.
